 Lionel Faivre Corbières AOC 2004
This is a beautiful grenat colour, alive and crystal clear. There is a complex but refined nose, with aromas of red fruits (cherry) truffles and spices (pepper and cinnamon if I was pushed). It is well balanced with silky tannins with a pleasing finish.
As you can see, it is a gold medal winning wine and is made with a blend of grapes:
30% Vieux Carignan
30% Syrah
30% Grenache
10% Mourvèdre.
The grapes are hand picked, sorted and fermented then some of the wine is matured in new vats for 10 months before being blended.
This is a well matured wine that can be drunk young or left for several years to further mature.
Drink it now with Coq au Vin, with Sunday roasts or with cheese (great with goats cheese!)
Ideal temperature 16-18°C.
