environmentally friendly? |

We don’t really need to answer this question; it is the one major theme that unites us all in safeguarding the future.
In addition to the comparatively short distances for French wine to travel, a further environmental issue is the importation of glass.
The UK imports over 600,000 tonnes of glass each year simply as wine packaging. This feeds into the waste disposal and recycling systems and has a major impact on our environment. The UK tends to like its wine in bottles and some people mistakenly think that wine in boxes or bought from vats or barrels is of inferior quality.
In France, the local vinicoles and caves sell wine in bottles, yes, but also in various sizes of boxes (5, 10 and 20 litres). Customers know that the wine is the same quality as in the bottle, and they know that by buying in the box, they can get the same quality at a better price.
Whilst we must sell wine in bottles because of the marketplace, we want to be able to offer a range of organic and biodynamic wines in 3, 5 and 10 litre wineboxes which will provide great value. We offer a selection of 5 litre boxes and want to extend this over time - but that really depends on our customers.
