Domaine des Côtes de Caris  
|
Christian and Dominique Guichard are the third generation of vignerons to produce wine from Domaine des Côtes de Caris which is due east of Bordeaux on the Dorgogne river. Christian joined his father and began work on the Domaine in 1981. In these early years the grapes were transported to the local cooperative until 1988 when he installed his own winery and began his own organic wine production.

The Domaine covers some 15 hectares of which 11 are devoted to red wine production and the remainder to white wine. The average age of their vines is 35 years. For the red wine Merlot is the main grape variety (60%) along with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wines are made from 90% Sauvignon and 10% Semillon.
They guarantee a natural product in keeping with the specifications of both Ecocert and Nature et Progres, their certifying bodies.

They have 3 children, one girl and two sons. The eldest son, Guillaume plans to follow in his father footsteps and continue the family tradition of wine production. |
